Connotation Photo Exercise

This is a picture to represent loneliness. We decided to use a long shot as it only shows the subject but you can also see slightly around the subject and see that no one is in his presence. The picture itself is very dull which shows how the subject is in a dark place both mentally and physically. We also used a high angle so he looks vulnerable and weak. This shot could of been an even longer shot so that you can see how isolated he really is.

This picture was taken to represent love. We decided to do a close-up so that all you focus on is the hands. This helps us understand the passion in between the two subjects. The entire picture is well lit and that shows the brightness that they feel when they are together. This is a slightly high angle as if we were a person passing by looking at them.

This is a picture to represent weakness. This picture wasn't taken at the best angle to represent this but with what we got i think that we captured weakness as well as possible. This was a medium shot which shows his body language and and his facial expression. You can see the struggle in his face. His body language shows that he is unable keep up-right. We also used a canted angle so you can see the subject is getting slightly dis-oriented.

This picture represents desire. We took a medium shot for this photo so you can see that he is gazing intently at someone. We did a medium shot so you can see his facial expression and body language. He is leaning against a red background which could suggest desire.

This picture was taken to represent fear. We obviously didn't have any props so we just used our imagination. We used a medium shot again so you could see the fear in his eyes and you could also see his body language and the "gun". The background  is red which represents danger. it is also a point of view shot so you can see from the shooters eyes.

  1. Some good points Craig. Be careful with your written expression - eg 'could of' should be 'could have', and also watch you use of apostrophes. Ask me if you are not sure how to use them. Remember to use the terminology you have learnt - eg 'connotes' rather than 'represents'. This is a pretty thoughtful start though, and comments on angle and shot distance accurately - overall well done!
